The Greatest Day Ever - Today

I am sitting in my office this morning. Okay, it is actually not an office - it is a coffee shop. Yes I am one of those types - a mooch that can't afford an office yet, so I "borrow" someone else's wifi for the cheapest cup of coffee. As I am preparing for my Easter message this Sunday, I am caught up(basic distraction) in a couple of things. First off, this is a French cafe with really bad accordian-like music. I chose French b/c I wanted to feel a bit more sophisticated, even artistic. Well, it is not working, I am having an increasing headache due to the forementioned loud music. Second, a young pregnant woman came in holding hands with a gentlemen that was at least 20 years older than her. I couldn't help think that she's with him for his money. Then I watched them walk out the door and return to their box next door that they live in - a large cardboard box. I think how ironic - I am thinking about Jesus' life and I see a homeless pregnant woman. Third, I am listening to two British business men talking about the new Airbus 380 airplane landing at LAX last week. I counted 17 "f" words in about 1 minute of conversation. Wow, I am actually blushing, it's like they are intentionally saying that word to a full extent. The last comment from the younger Brit was, "Well, I guesss it is time to go be a slave to the "f-ing" man," and they walk off presumably to work. I am positive he will have a happy joy-filled day! Forth, two Tibetan monk-like guys are in the corner pouring over some books. Fifth, a huge guy walks in and asks if they could make him an omelette - 6 eggs, broccoli, mushrooms, and tofu. The help at the counter responds, "Sure, but would you like your tofu chilled or heated?" Lastly, they changed the music. From loud accordian-like French wannabe stuff to an 25 year old angry guy who's singing how bad life is and how good getting high is to an accelerated acoustic rythm.

I whisper my usual frustrated prayer - Can I Please Have An Office?

And back to Jesus - He is risen...Risen Indeed!
